Definition of Blazing Hellfire

Al-jahîm (blazing Hell): intense fire.

Allah says: 'And the deviators and Iblis's soldiers, all will be thrown into Hell (al-jahîm)' (Ash-Shu'arâ': 94).

Jahama: he stoked the fire.

Surah Al-Baqara : 119 Medinan

﴿إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ بَشِيرًا وَنَذِيرًا وَلَا تُسْـَٔلُ عَنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴾

Indeed, We have sent you, [O Muhammad], with the truth as a bringer of good tidings and a warner, and you will not be asked about the companions of Hellfire.

Surah Al-Maida : 10 Medinan

﴿وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴾

But those who disbelieve and deny Our signs - those are the companions of Hellfire.

Surah Al-Maida : 86 Medinan

﴿وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴾

But those who disbelieved and denied Our signs - they are the companions of Hellfire.

Surah At-Tawba : 113 Medinan

﴿مَا كَانَ لِلنَّبِىِّ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَن يَسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ وَلَوْ كَانُوٓا۟ أُو۟لِى قُرْبَىٰ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴾

It is not for the Prophet and those who have believed to ask forgiveness for the polytheists, even if they were relatives, after it has become clear to them that they are companions of Hellfire.

Surah Al-Hajj : 51 Medinan

﴿وَٱلَّذِينَ سَعَوْا۟ فِىٓ ءَايَٰتِنَا مُعَٰجِزِينَ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴾

But the ones who strove against Our verses, [seeking] to cause failure - those are the companions of Hellfire.

Surah Ash-Shu'ara : 91 Meccan

﴿وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ﴾

And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators,

Surah As-Saffat : 23 Meccan

﴿مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴾

Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire

Surah As-Saffat : 55 Meccan

﴿فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴾

And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire.

Surah As-Saffat : 64 Meccan

﴿إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴾

Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire,

Surah As-Saffat : 68 Meccan

﴿ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴾

Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire.

Surah As-Saffat : 97 Meccan

﴿قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَٰنًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴾

They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire."

Surah As-Saffat : 163 Meccan

﴿إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴾

Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire.

Surah Ghafir : 7 Meccan

﴿ٱلَّذِينَ يَحْمِلُونَ ٱلْعَرْشَ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُۥ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ رَبَّنَا وَسِعْتَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ رَّحْمَةً وَعِلْمًا فَٱغْفِرْ لِلَّذِينَ تَابُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ سَبِيلَكَ وَقِهِمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴾

Those [angels] who carry the Throne and those around it exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord and believe in Him and ask forgiveness for those who have believed, [saying], "Our Lord, You have encompassed all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who have repented and followed Your way and protect them from the punishment of Hellfire.

Surah Ad-Dukhan : 47 Meccan

﴿خُذُوهُ فَٱعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴾

[It will be commanded], "Seize him and drag him into the midst of the Hellfire,

Surah Ad-Dukhan : 56 Meccan

﴿لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا ٱلْمَوْتَ إِلَّا ٱلْمَوْتَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴾

They will not taste death therein except the first death, and He will have protected them from the punishment of Hellfire

Surah At-Tur : 18 Meccan

﴿فَٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴾

Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire.

Surah Al-Waqi'a : 94 Meccan

﴿وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ﴾

And burning in Hellfire

Surah Al-Hadid : 19 Medinan

﴿وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦٓ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلصِّدِّيقُونَ وَٱلشُّهَدَآءُ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ لَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ وَنُورُهُمْ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴾

And those who have believed in Allah and His messengers - those are [in the ranks of] the supporters of truth and the martyrs, with their Lord. For them is their reward and their light. But those who have disbelieved and denied Our verses - those are the companions of Hellfire.

Surah Al-Haqqa : 31 Meccan

﴿ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ﴾

Then into Hellfire drive him.

Surah Al-Muzzammil : 12 Meccan

﴿إِنَّ لَدَيْنَآ أَنكَالًا وَجَحِيمًا﴾

Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire

Surah An-Nazi'at : 36 Meccan

﴿وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ﴾

And Hellfire will be exposed for [all] those who see -

Surah An-Nazi'at : 39 Meccan

﴿فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ﴾

Then indeed, Hellfire will be [his] refuge.
