Definition of Chin / Beard

Allah says: 'They fall on their chins (li-l-adhqân) weeping' (Al-Isrâ': 109).

Al-adhqân: plural of 'dhaqan' (chin).

Prostrating on the chin is a mark of extreme humility and total submission.

Say, "Believe in it or do not believe. Indeed, those who were given knowledge before it - when it is recited to them, they fall upon their faces in prostration,
Surah Al-Isra : 109 Meccan
﴿وَيَخِرُّونَ لِلْأَذْقَانِ يَبْكُونَ وَيَزِيدُهُمْ خُشُوعًا
And they fall upon their faces weeping, and the Qur'an increases them in humble submission.
Surah Ya-Sin : 8 Meccan
﴿إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا فِىٓ أَعْنَٰقِهِمْ أَغْلَٰلًا فَهِىَ إِلَى ٱلْأَذْقَانِ فَهُم مُّقْمَحُونَ
Indeed, We have put shackles on their necks, and they are to their chins, so they are with heads [kept] aloft.
