Definition of To cut / To sever

Al-jadhd: to break and crumble something.

Broken gold stones and gold fragments are called 'judhâdh'.

Hence Allah's words: 'He made them into fragments (judhâdhan)' (Al-Anbiyâ': 58).

This is Abraham breaking his people's idols.

﴿فَجَعَلَهُمْ جُذَٰذًا إِلَّا كَبِيرًۭا لَّهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِ يَرْجِعُونَ
