Definition of Jujube (tree)
As-sidr: a tree of little food value.
That is why the Almighty says: 'and thorny sidr trees' (Saba 16) to describe degradation.
But also: 'near the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary' (An-Najm 14) and 'among thornless lote trees' (Al-Waqi'a 28) for Paradise.
But they turned away [refusing], so We sent upon them the flood of the dam, and We replaced their two [fields of] gardens with gardens of bitter fruit, tamarisks and something of sparse lote trees.
Surah An-Najm : 14 Meccan
﴿عِندَ سِدْرَةِ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ﴾
At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary -
Surah An-Najm : 16 Meccan
﴿إِذْ يَغْشَى ٱلسِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ﴾
When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it].
Surah Al-Waqi'a : 28 Meccan
﴿فِى سِدْرٍ مَّخْضُودٍ﴾
[They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed
