Definition of Locust / To strip

Al-jarâd (locusts): well-known.

Allah says: 'We sent upon them the flood, locusts (al-jarâd), lice' (Al-A'râf: 133).

Locusts were one of the plagues sent against Pharaoh and his people to punish them and urge them to free the Children of Israel.

So We sent upon them the flood and locusts and lice and frogs and blood as distinct signs, but they were arrogant and were a criminal people.

﴿خُشَّعًا أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنتَشِرٌ
Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading,
