Definition of Arid land

Allah says: 'Barren land (juruz)' (Al-Kahf: 8).

That is: whose vegetation is cut at the root.

A 'majrûza' land is one whose growth has been consumed.

This term describes sterile land, devoid of all vegetation.

Have they not seen that We drive the water [in clouds] to barren land and bring forth thereby crops from which their livestock eat and [they] themselves? Then do they not see?
