Definition of Misfortune / Ruin

Al-ta's: not rising from a fall and collapsing downward.

One says 'ta'isa' when someone stumbles without getting up.

Allah says: 'Misery to them (fa-ta'san lahum)' (Muhammad: 8).

This is an invocation of ruin against the disbelievers, wishing that they never recover from their fall.
