Definition of Motionless / Stagnant

Rakada al-mâ' wa al-rîh: water and wind became still.

Same for ship and sun.

Allah says: 'They remain motionless (rawâkid) on its surface' (Ash-Shûrâ: 33).

Ships are motionless on the sea by Allah's will.

If He willed, He could still the wind, and they would remain motionless on its surface. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.
