Definition of Time / Era

Al-dahr: originally, the name for the world's duration from beginning to end.

Allah says: 'Is it not time (al-dahr) that destroys us?' (Al-Jâthiya: 24).

Disbelievers attributed death to time, denying resurrection.

﴿وَقَالُوا۟ مَا هِىَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا يُهْلِكُنَآ إِلَّا ٱلدَّهْرُ وَمَا لَهُم بِذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَظُنُّونَ
And they say, "There is not but our worldly life; we die and live, and nothing destroys us except time." And they have of that no knowledge; they are only assuming.
Surah Al-Insan : 1 Medinan
﴿هَلْ أَتَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْإِنسَٰنِ حِينٌ مِّنَ ٱلدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُن شَيْـًٔا مَّذْكُورًا
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned?
