Hadiths on Collecting the Qur'an

The 3 hadiths retrace the writing down of the Qur'an: Zayd ibn Thabit, «one of the scribes of the Qur'an», tells of being sent for by Abu Bakr and 'Umar after the events of Yamamah; Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman informs 'Uthman of the difference in recitations observed between the troops of the Levant and Iraq during the conquest of Armenia and Azerbaijan; the last text states that the Prophet did not know what separated the surahs before the Basmalah was revealed. All three are authentic.
