This section contains a single authentic hadith on performing good deeds on behalf of the deceased and gifting them the reward. It provides its very foundation: «When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a pious child who supplicates for him». The supplication of a righteous child remains among the deeds that still reach the deceased after death.
