📖 1 min readعن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : «لا تُزوِّجُ المرأةُ المرأةَ، ولا تُزوج المرأةُ نفسَها، فإنَّ الزَّانية هي التي تُزوجُ نفسَها».
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: “No woman should perform the marriage of another woman, and no woman should perform her own marriage. It is an adulteress who performs her own marriage.”
This Hadīth proves that a woman does not have the authority to perform her own marriage, let alone someone else's marriage. Any marriage performed by a woman is void. As for the sentence: "It is an adulteress who performs her own marriage", these are Abu Hurayrah’s words. By this he meant that only adulteresses perform their own marriages, so a chaste woman must not marry without a guardian.
