Hadith text: O Abu Bakr, what do you think of two persons, the third…

عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقَ رَضيَ اللهُ عنه قَالَ: نَظَرْتُ إِلَى أَقْدَامِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ عَلَى رُءُوسِنَا وَنَحْنُ فِي الْغَارِ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوْ أَنَّ أَحَدَهُمْ نَظَرَ إِلَى قَدَمَيْهِ أَبْصَرَنَا تَحْتَ قَدَمَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: «يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ، مَا ظَنُّكَ بِاثْنَيْنِ اللهُ ثَالِثُهُمَا».

Abu Bakr as-Siddīq (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: When we were in the cave, I saw the feet of the polytheists as I raised my head, and I said: O Messenger of Allah, if one of them looked below his feet, he would see us. He said: "O Abu Bakr, what do you think of two persons, the third of whom is Allah?"

• The virtue of Abu Bakr as-Siddīq (may Allah be pleased with him) in accompanying the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) during his migration from Makkah to Madīnah, leaving behind his family and wealth.
• The deep concern of Abu Bakr as-Siddīq (may Allah be pleased with him) and the extent of his love for the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), fearing for him from the enemies.
• The obligation to trust in Allah Almighty and to be reassured of His care and protection after exerting effort in taking precautions and being cautious.
• Allah's divine care for His prophets and allies, and His protection of them through victory. Allah Almighty says: {We will surely help Our messengers and those who believe in the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses will come forward.}
• A reminder that whoever places his trust in Allah, He will suffice him, grant him victory, aid him, safeguard him, and protect him.
• Perfection of the Prophet's reliance on his Lord, as he depended on Him and entrusted all his affairs to Him.
• The courage of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and how he reassured the hearts and souls.
• Fleeing with the religion out of fear of the enemy, while taking necessary precautions.
