Supplication after the last tashahhud and before the salam

اللهم إني أعوذ بك من عذاب القبر،ومن عذاب جهنم،ومن فتنة المحيا والممات ،ومن شر فتنة المسيح الدجال

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'adhabi-l-qabr, wa min 'adhi-bi-Jahannam, wa min fitnati-l-mahya wa-l-mamat, wa min sharri fitnati-l-Masihi-d-Dajjal.

O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the torment of the grave, from the torment of Hell, from the trial of life and death, and from the evil of the trial of the false messiah.

اللهم إني ظلمت نفسي ظلماً كثيراً ، ولا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت ، فاغفر لي مغفرة من عندك وارحمني إنك أنت الغفور الرحيم

Allahumma inni zalamtu nafsi zulman kathiran, wa la yaghfiru-dh-dhunuba illa Ant, fa-ghfir li maghfiratan min 'indik wa-rhamni, innaka Anta-l-Ghafuru-r-Rahim.

O Allah, I have wronged myself greatly, and none forgives sins except You; so grant me forgiveness from Yourself and have mercy on me, You are indeed the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

اللهم اغفر لي ما قدمت وما أخرت وما أسررت وما أعلنت وما أسرفت وما أنت أعلم به مني أنت المقدم وأنت المؤخر لا إله إلا أنت

Allahumma-ghfir li ma qaddamtu wa ma akhart, wa ma asrartu wa ma a'lant, wa ma asraftu, wa ma Anta a'lamu bihi minni, Anta-l-Muqaddim wa Anta-l-Mu'akhkhir, la ilaha illa Ant.

O Allah, forgive me what I sent ahead and what I delayed, what I concealed and what I revealed, what I exceeded in — and You know it better than me. You are the One who advances and the One who delays. There is no god but You.

اللهم أعني على ذكرك ، وشكرك وحسن عبادتك

Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika, wa shukrika, wa husni 'ibadatik.

O Allah, help me to remember You, to thank You, and to worship You in the best way.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika mina-l-bukhl, wa a'udhu bika mina-l-jubn, wa a'udhu bika an uradda ila ardali-l-'umur, wa a'udhu bika min fitnati-d-dunya, wa a'udhu bika min 'adhabi-l-qabr.

O Allah, I seek refuge with You from miserliness, I seek refuge with You from cowardice, I seek refuge with You from returning to the most wretched age, I seek refuge with You from the trial of this world and the torment of the grave.

اللهم إني أسألك الجنة وأعوذ بك من النار

Allahumma inni as'aluka-l-jannata wa a'udhu bika mina-n-nar.

O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and I seek refuge with You from the Fire.

اللهم بعلمك الغيب وقدرتك على الخلق أحيني ما علمت الحياة خيراً لي وتوفني إذا علمت الوفاة خيراً لي ، اللهم إني أسألك خشيتك في الغيب والشهادة ، وأسألك كلمة الحق في الرضا والغضب ، وأسألك القصد في الغنى والفقر ، وأسألك نعيماً لا ينفد ، وأسألك قرة عين لا تنقطع ، وأسألك الرضا بعد القضاء ، وأسألك برد العيش بعد الموت ، وأسألك لذة النظر إلى وجهك والشوق إلى لقائك من غير ضرَّاء مضرة ولا فتنة مضلة ، اللهم زينا بزينة الإيمان ، واجعلنا هداة مهتدين

Allahumma bi-'ilmika-l-ghaybi wa qudratika 'ala-l-khalq, ahyini ma 'alimta-l-hayata khayran li, wa tawaffani idha 'alimta-l-wafata khayran li. Allahumma inni as'aluka khashyataka fi-l-ghaybi wa-sh-shahadah, wa as'aluka kalimata-l-haqqi fi-r-rida wa-l-ghadab, wa as'aluka-l-qasda fi-l-ghina wa-l-faqr, wa as'aluka na'man la yanfad, wa as'aluka qurrata 'aynin la tanqati', wa as'aluka-r-rida ba'da-l-qada, wa as'aluka barda-l-'ayshi ba'da-l-mawt, wa as'aluka ladhdhata-n-nazari ila wajhika wa-sh-shawqa ila liqa'ika, min ghayri darr'a mudirratin wa la fitnatin mudillah. Allahumma zayyinna bi-zinati-l-iman, wa-j'alna hudatan muhtadin.

O Allah, by Your knowledge of the unseen and the seen, by Your power over creation, let me live as long as You know life is better for me, and take me in death when You know death is better for me. O Allah, I ask You for Your fear in secret and in public, I ask You for the word of truth in contentment and anger, I ask You for moderation in wealth and poverty, I ask You for a blessing that never ends, I ask You for the comfort of the eye that never ceases, I ask You for contentment after Your decree, and the coolness of life after death; I ask You for the pleasure of looking at Your face and the longing to meet You, without harmful affliction or misleading trial. O Allah, adorn us with the adornment of faith, and make us guides who are guided.

اللهم إني أسألك يا الله بأنك الواحد الأحد الصمد الذي لم يلد ولم يولد ولم يكن له كفواً أحد أن تغفر لي ذنوبي إنك أنت الغفور الرحيم

Allahumma inni as'aluka ya Allah bi-annaka-l-Wahidu-l-Ahadu-s-Samadu-lladhi lam yalid wa lam yulad wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad, an taghfira li dhunubi, innaka Anta-l-Ghafuru-r-Rahim.

O Allah, I ask You, O Allah, for You are the One, the Unique, the Eternal Refuge, who has not begotten and has not been begotten, and none is equal to You, to forgive my sins: You are indeed the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

اللهم إني أسألك بأن لك الحمد ، لا إله إلا أنت وحدك لا شريك لك ، المنان ، يا بديع السموات والأرض يا ذا الجلال والإكرام يا حي يا قيوم إني أسألك الجنة وأعوذ بك من النار

Allahumma inni as'aluka bi-annaka laka-l-hamd, la ilaha illa Ant, wahdaka la sharika lak, al-Mannan, ya Badi'a-s-samawati wa-l-ard, ya Dha-l-Jalali wa-l-Ikram, ya Hayyu ya Qayyum, inni as'aluka-l-jannata wa a'udhu bika mina-n-nar.

O Allah, I ask You in that to You belongs the praise: there is no god but You, alone without partner, the Bestower of favors; O Creator of the heavens and the earth, O Possessor of majesty and generosity, O Ever-Living, O Sustainer: I ask You for Paradise and I seek refuge with You from the Fire.

Invocation after the salam of the witr prayer

كان رسول الله صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يقرأ في الوتر :( سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى ) و ( وَقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ ) و ( وَقُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ). فإذا سلم قال سبحان الملك القدوس [ رب الملائكة والروح ] ثلاث مرات والثالثة يجهر بها ويمد بها صوته

Kana rasulu-llahi salla-llahu 'alayhi wa sallam yaqra-u fi-l-watri: {Sabbihisma rabbika-l-a'la}, wa {Qul ya ayyuha-l-kafirun}, wa {Qul huwa-llahu ahad}. Fa-idha sallama qala: Subhana-l-Maliki-l-Quddus [Rabbi-l-mala'ikati wa-r-ruh], thalatha marrat, wa-th-thalitha yajharu biha wa yamdu biha sawtah.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited in the witr: {Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High}, {Say: O you who disbelieve} and {Say: He is Allah, the One}. When he greeted, he said: "Glory be to the Sovereign, the Holy [Lord of the angels and the spirit]" three times, and at the third he raised his voice.

Spreading the greeting of peace

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : لا تدخلوا الجنة حتى تؤمنوا ، ولا تؤمنوا حتى تحابوا ، أو لا أدلكم على شيءٍ إذا فعلتموه تحاببتم ، أفشوا السلام بينكم

Qala rasulu-llahi salla-llahu 'alayhi wa sallam: la tadkhulu-nna-l-jannata hatta tu'minu, wa la tu'minu hatta tuhabbu, aw la adullukum 'ala shay'in idha fa'altumuhu tahabbabtum, afshu-s-salama baynakum.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "You will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I not point you to something which, if you do it, you will love one another: spread the greeting of peace among you."

ثلاث من جمعهن فقد جمع الإيمان : الإنصاف من نفسك ، وبذل السلام للعالم ،والإنفاق من الإقتار

Thalathun, man jama'ahunna fa-qad jama'a-l-imana: al-insafu min nafsik, wa badhu-s-salami li-l-'alam, wa-l-infaqu mina-l-iqtar.

Three things, if gathered together, faith is gathered: fairness to oneself, spreading the greeting of peace to the world, and spending despite little means.

وعن عبد الله بن عمر رضي الله عنهما : أن رجلاً سأل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أي الإسلام خير قال : تطعم الطعام وتقرأ السلام على من عرفت ومن لم تعرف

'Abdullah ibn 'Umar radiya-llahu 'anhuma: anna rajulan sa'ala-n-nabiyya salla-llahu 'alayhi wa sallam ayyu-l-islami khayrun, qala: it'amu-t-ta'am, wa taqri'u-s-salami 'ala man 'arifta wa man lam ta'rif.

From 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): a man asked the Prophet ﷺ which deed in Islam is best. He said: "Feeding food and greeting the one you know and the one you do not know."

How to respond to the greeting of a disbeliever

إذا سلم عليكم أهل الكتاب فقولوا : وعليكم

Idha sallamu 'alaykum ahlul-kitabi fa-qulu: wa 'alaykum.

If the People of the Book greet you, say: "And upon you."
