(س) al-Husayn ibn 'Arfatah ibn Nadla ibn al-Ashtar ibn Hajwan ibn Faq'as ibn Tarif ibn 'Amr ibn Qa'in ibn al-Harith ibn Tha'laba ibn Dudan ibn Asad ibn Khuzayma. His name had been: Husayl - with a lam - and the Prophet ﷺ renamed him Husayn - with a nun.
Al-Daraqutni narrated, on the authority of Ahmad ibn Sa'id, on the authority of Dawud ibn Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Malik ibn Habib ibn Tammam ibn Husayn ibn 'Arfatah: my father related to me, on the authority of his father, on the authority of his grandfather, on the authority of the grandfather's grandfather, on the authority of al-Husayn ibn 'Arfatah, that the Prophet ﷺ said to him: When you stand for prayer, say: ﴿In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, Lord of all the worlds﴾ (5) until he completed it, then ﴿Say: He is Allah, the One (6)﴾ to its end.
