Hind bint Uthba

Hind bint Utbah bin Rabi'ah bin Abd Shams bin Abd Manaf, the Hashemite Qurayshite, the wife of Abu Sufyan bin Harb. She is the mother of Muawiyah. When Hamza was killed, she mutilated him, cut open his stomach, extracted his liver, and gutted it, but she could not bear to swallow it.

This was reported to the Prophet ﷺ and he said: "If you had let go of it, the fire would not have touched it." Another report states: The one who mutilated Hamza was Muawiyah bin Al-Mughirah bin Abi Al-Aas bin Umayyah, the maternal grandfather of Abdul-Malik bin Marwan, and the Prophet ﷺ killed him patiently as he left. Uhud. Then Hind converted to Islam on the day of the conquest, and her Islam was good. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, pledged allegiance to women, and in the pledge of allegiance: "And they shall not steal, nor shall they commit adultery," Hind said: Does a free woman commit adultery and steal? When he said: "And they should not kill their children," she said: We raised them when they were young and you killed them when they were old. She complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, about her husband, Abu Sufyan, and said: He is stingy and does not give her enough food to suffice for her and her child.

So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said to her: "Take from his money, on a reasonable basis, what is sufficient for you and your child." Hisham bin Urwa narrated, on the authority of his father, he said: Hind said to Abu Sufyan: I want to pledge allegiance to Muhammad. He said: I saw you denying this hadith yesterday! She said: By Allah, I did not see Allah worshiping Him in this mosque before tonight, and by Allah, they spent the night only praying. He said: Then you have done what you did, so take a man from your people with you. So she went to Othman bin Affan; according to another report, To her brother, Ubayy.
