Biography of Hudhayfa ibn al-Yaman

Hudhayfah bin Al-Yaman, who is Hudhayfah bin Hasal. It is said that Hasil bin Jaber bin Amr bin Rabi'ah bin Jarwah bin Al-Harith bin Mazen bin Qati'ah bin Abs bin Baghid bin Reith bin Ghatfan Abu Abdullah Al-Absi, and Al-Yaman is the title of Hasal bin Jaber. Ibn al-Kalbi said: It is the nickname of Jarwah ibn al-Harith, but that was said to him because he caused bloodshed among his people, so he fled to Medina and allyed himself with Banu Abd al-Ashhal from the Ansar, so his people called him Al-Yaman because he allyed himself with the Ansar. They were from Yemen. Narrated by: his son Abu Ubaidah, Omar bin Al-Khattab, Ali bin Abi Talib, Qais bin Abi Hazim, Abu Wael, Zaid bin Wahb, and others. He migrated to the Prophet ﷺ and he gave him the choice between immigration and victory.

When the Prophet ﷺ gave him the choice between retaining emigrant status and affiliating with the Ansar, he chose the Ansar. He fought at Uhud alongside the Prophet ﷺ. His father was killed there, as noted in his own biography. Hudhayfah was the secret keeper of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, regarding the hypocrites. No one knew them except Hudhaifa. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, informed him about them. Omar asked him: Are there any of my workers who are hypocrites? He said: Yes, one. He said: Who is he? He said: I do not remember him. Hudhayfah said: So he isolated him, as if he had indicated him, and if Omar died, he would ask about Hudhayfah, and if he attended the prayer for him, Omar would pray for him, and if Hudhayfah did not attend the prayer for him, then Omar would not attend. Hudhayfah witnessed the war in Binhawand, and when al-Nu`man ibn Muqrin killed the emir of that army, he took the banner, and the conquest of Hamadan, al-Ray, and al-Dinur were in his hands.

He witnessed the conquest of the Jazira. He went down to Nisibis and got married there. He used to ask the Prophet ﷺ about evil in order to avoid it. the Prophet ﷺ sent him a secret mission to bring him news of the infidels. He did not witness Badr, because the polytheists had taken a covenant from him that he would not fight them. So he asked the Prophet ﷺ: Should he fight or not? He said: Rather, we deny them, and we seek Allah's help against them. A man asked Hudhayfah: Which temptation is more severe? He said: That good and evil are presented to you, and you do not know which one to ride. Reported by Abu Ja`far Ubayd Allah ibn Ahmad ibn Ali and others, on the authority of Hudhayfah, who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, told us two hadiths. I saw one of them. I was waiting for the other. He told us that the trust was revealed.

At the root of men's hearts, then the Qur'an was revealed, so they learned from the Qur'an. They learned from the Sunnah. He then told us about the removal of trust. He said: A man sleeps like a sleep. Then the trust is taken away from his heart, and its trace remains like a wick. Then he sleeps soundly, and the trust is taken away, and its trace remains like the trace of a wick. The log is like a coal. You rolled it on your foot and it bled, and you saw it dusted and there was nothing in it. Then he took a pebble and rolled it on his foot. He said: Then the people would rise up and pledge allegiance, and hardly anyone would fulfill the trust, until Another report states: There is among the children of so-and-so a trustworthy man, and until it was said to the man: What a flogger he was! He was the kindest and wisest man, and there was not in his heart the weight of a mustard seed of faith.

He said: A time has come upon me when I did not care which of you I pledged allegiance to, if only As a Muslim, to bring him back to his religion, And if he were a Jew or a Christian, he would return it to his courier, but today I would not pledge allegiance to anyone but so-and-so and so-and-so. Zaid bin Aslam narrated, on the authority of his father, that Omar bin Al-Khattab said to his companions: They wished. They wished to fill the house they were in with money and jewels that they would spend for the sake of Allah, and Omar said: But I wish for men like Abu Ubaidah, Muadh bin Jabal, and Hudhayfah bin Al-Yaman, so use them in obedience to Allah. Then he sent money to Abu Ubaidah, and said: Look what he does, so he divided it. Then he sent money to Hudhayfah, and said: Look what he does.

He said: So he divided it, and Omar said: I told you, and Laith bin Abi Salim said: When death befell Hudhayfah, he was greatly alarmed and cried a lot, so Some reports state: What makes you cry? He said: I do not cry out of regret for this world, but rather death is more beloved to me, but I do not know which one should I do, contentment or discontent? According to another account, When death approached him, he said: This is the last hour of the world. Oh Allah, you know that I love you, so bless me in meeting you. Then he died. His death occurred forty nights after killing Uthman, in the year thirty-six.

Muhammad ibn Sirin said: Whenever Omar employed a governor, he wrote his covenant: "I have sent so-and-so and ordered him to do such and such," and when he appointed Hudhayfah over Al-Mada'in, he wrote in his covenant: "Listen to him and obey him, and give him what he asks of you." When he arrived at Al-Mada'in, Al-Dahhaqin received him. When he read his covenant, they said: "Ask us whatever you want." He said:
