Biography of Khabbab ibn al-Aratt
Khabbab bin Al-Art differed in his lineage, so Another report states: Khuza'i; according to another report, Tamimi. He is the most. He is Khabab bin Al-Art bin Jandalah bin Saad bin Khuzaimah bin Ka'b bin Saad bin Zaid bin Manat bin Tamim, nicknamed Abu Abdullah; in another account, Abu Muhammad, Some reports state: Abu Yahya. He is an Arab. He was taken captive in pre-Islamic times and was sold in Mecca. According to another account, He is an ally of Banu Zahra. Ibn Mandah and Abu Naim said: Another report states: He is the client of Utbah bin Ghazwan; some reports state instead: He is the client of Umm Anmar bint Saba' Al-Khuza'i. She is one of the allies of Banu Zahra, so he is of Tamimi lineage, Khuza'i of loyalty, Zuhri of the alliance, because his mistress Umm Anmar was one of the allies of Awf bin Abd Auf bin Abd al-Harith bin Zahra, the father of Abd al-Rahman bin Awf. He was one of the first to come to Islam, and one of those who would be punished for the sake of Allah Almighty.
He was the sixth of six in Islam. Mujahid said: The first to demonstrate his conversion to Islam was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and Abu Bakr, Khabbab, Suhaib, Bilal, Ammar, and Sumayyah Umm Ammar. As for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Allah prevented him through his uncle Abu Talib, and as for Abu Bakr, his people prevented him, and as for the others, they clothed them in iron armor, then melted them in the sun. They were as exhausted as Allah willing they would be in the heat of iron and the sun. Al-Sha'bi said: Khababa was patient and did not give the infidels what they asked for, so they began to tape his back to the knees, until the flesh of his tenderloin was gone. Reported by Abu Al-Fadl bin Abi Al-Hasan bin Abi Abdullah Al-Faqih, on the authority of Khabbab, who said: We complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, while he was covering his cloak in the shade of the Kaaba, so we said: Will you seek victory for us?
So he sat down with a red face and said: "Before you, a man would be taken and dug for him in the ground, then a saw would be brought and it would be placed above his head. What will distract him from his religion, and combing with iron combs what is beneath his flesh of bone and sinew, what will distract him from his religion, and may Allah complete this matter. Until the rider travels from Sana'a to Hadar death, fearing no one but Allah, and the wolf for his sheep, but you rush." Abu Salih said: Khabab Qina used to print swords. He the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, became familiar with him and he came to him, so his mistress informed him of this, so she used to take the hot iron and place it on his head.
He complained about this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: "O Allah, grant victory to Khabbab." Then his mistress, Umm Anmar, complained about her hair. She was howling like a dog, so she was told: "Be burned." So Khabbab used to take the hot iron and iron her head with it. He witnessed Badr, Uhud, and all the scenes with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Al-Shabi said: Omar bin Al-Khattab asked Khabbab, peace be upon him, about what he encountered from the polytheists. He said: O Commander of the Faithful, look at my back. He looked and said: I have never seen a man appear like today. Khabbab said: I lit a fire and dragged on it, and nothing extinguished it except someone stamped on my back. When he emigrated, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, brought brotherhood between him and Tamim, the client of Kharash bin Al-Samah; according to another report, he made brotherhood between him and Jabr bin Atik.
It was narrated on his authority by: his son Abdullah, Masruq, Qais bin Abi Hazim, Shaqiq, Abdullah bin Sakhabra, Abu Maysarah bin Sharhabeel, Al-Sha'bi, Haritha bin Mudarib, and others. Reported by Abu Ishaq Ibrahim bin Muhammad al-Faqih, on the authority of his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, prayed a prayer and prolonged it. They said: O Messenger of Allah, did you pray a prayer that you had not previously performed? He said: "Yes, it is a prayer of desire and dread. I asked Allah, about it three times, and He gave me two and withheld one from me. I asked him not to He will destroy my nation with a sunnah, so I gave it, I asked him not to let an enemy from other than them dominate them, so he gave it to me. I asked him not to make some of them feel harm. Some, so he prevented it.
Reported by " Abu Al-Faraj bin Abi Raja, on the authority of Abu Khaled, who said: While we were in the mosque, Khabbab bin Al-Art came and sat down and was silent, and the people said to him: Your companions have gathered to talk to you or To command them. He said: What do I command them to do? Perhaps I may order them to do what I am not doing. Qais bin Muslim narrated on the authority of Tariq, he said: He returned to meet a group of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. They said: Give good news to Abu Abdullah, you will return to your brothers at the basin. He said: You mentioned to me brothers who had passed away and had not received any of their rewards, and we remained after them until we attained from this world what you fear might be. As a reward for those deeds, Khabbab became seriously ill for a long time.
Reported by Yahya bin Mahmoud bin Saad, on the authority of Qays bin Abi Hazim, who said: We visited Khabab and he had been covered with seven kiats. He said: "If it had not been that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, He forbade us from calling for death, so I would pray for it." He went down to Kufa and died there. He was the first of the Companions to be buried in the back of Kufa, and his death was in the year thirty-seven. Zaid bin Wahb said: We walked with Ali when he returned from Siffin, until when he was at the gate of Kufa, we saw seven graves on our right. He said: What are these graves? They said: O Commander of the Faithful, Khabbab bin Al-Art died after you left for Siffin, so he recommended that he be buried in the outskirts of Kufa. People used to bury their dead in their courtyards and at the gates of their homes. When they saw Khabbab, he recommended that he be buried in the back of Kufa, so the people buried them.
Ali, peace be upon him, said: May Allah have mercy on Khabbab. He accepted Islam willingly, immigrated obediently, lived as a mujahid, and was afflicted in his body. Allah will not waste the reward of those who do good deeds. Then he approached their graves and said: Peace be upon you, O people of the land, among the believers and Muslims. You are our forefathers and we are yours who will follow a little later. O Allah, forgive us and them, and pardon us and them. Blessed are those who remember the Day of Resurrection and do good deeds. for the reckoning, and was content with subsistence, and pleased with Allah. Abu Omar said: Khabbab died in the year thirty-seven after he had witnessed Siffin with Ali, peace be upon him, and Al-Nahrawan, and Ali prayed over him, and his age when he died was seventy-three years. He said: Some reports state: He died in the year nineteen, and Omar, peace be upon him, prayed over him.
