Mu'adh ibn al-Harith al-Ansari

Muadh ibn al-Harith al-Ansari, present at al-Aqaba, present at Badr, known as Ibn Afra, and Afra was his mother. He is the one who shared with Muadh ibn Amr ibn al-Jamuh in the killing of Abu Jahl. He is Muadh ibn al-Harith ibn Rifaa ibn Sawad ibn Malik ibn Ghanm ibn Malik ibn an-Najjar, and Afra his mother was the daughter of Ubayd ibn Thalaba ibn Ghanm ibn Malik ibn an-Najjar; his mother was Umm Muawwidh. His hadith is preserved with Nasr ibn Abd ar-Rahman. Some of the later scholars mentioned that he was killed at Badr, but they erred in that. ⦗2440⦘ And Kathir ibn Aflah said: Muadh ibn Afra freed a thousand souls, apart from what others purchased on his behalf. 5966 - Muhammad ibn Ishaq related to us, Ibrahim ibn Sadan related to us, Bakr ibn Bakkar related to us, Shuba related to us, on the authority of Sad ibn Ibrahim, on the authority of Nasr ibn Abd ar-Rahman, on the authority of Muadh, a man of Quraysh: " that he saw Muadh ibn Afra circumambulate after the Asr prayer or after the Subh prayer, and he did not pray the two rakas, so I asked him, and he said: Indeed the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, " forbade two prayers: a prayer after the Asr until the sun sets, and after the Subh until the sun rises. " And Ghundar and Abd as-Samad related it likewise, and they mentioned Muadh al-Qurashi. And Abu Dawud and Sulayman ibn Harb, among others, related it on the authority of Shuba, but they did not mention Muadh al-Qurashi; and Muadh al-Qurashi is the grandfather of Nasr ibn Abd ar-Rahman ibn Muadh, thus did Ghundar relate it. 5967 - Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn al-Hasan related it to us, Abd Allah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal related to us, my father related to me, Muhammad ibn Jafar Ghundar related to us, Shuba related to us, on the authority of Sad ibn Ibrahim, on the authority of Nasr ibn Abd ar-Rahman, on the authority of his grandfather Muadh al-Qurashi: that he circumambulated the House together with Muadh ibn Afra after the Asr or after the Subh, and he mentioned the like of it.
