Biography of Usama ibn Zayd
Osama bin Zaid Osama bin Zaid bin Haritha bin Sharaheel bin Kaab bin Abdul Uzza bin Zaid bin Imru' al-Qais bin Amer bin al-Numan bin Amer bin Abdul Wad (3), bin Awf bin Kinanah, bin Bakr, bin Awf, bin Adhra, bin Zaid al-Lat, bin Rufaidah, bin Thawr, bin Kalb Bin Wabarah Al-Kalbi. Ibn Mandah and Abu Naim mentioned in his lineage Ibn Rufaidah ibn Luay ibn Kalb, which is a misprint, but he is the bull of ibn Kalb, there is no doubt about it. His mother, Umm Ayman, is the custodian of the Prophet ﷺ. He and Ayman are maternal brothers. Osama was known by the kunya Abu Muhammad; other reports give Abu Zaid, Abu Yazid, or Abu Kharijah. He was the client of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from his parents. He was known as the beloved of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
Ibn Omar narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Osama bin Zaid is the most beloved of people to me, or the most beloved of people to me. I hope that he will be among your righteous people, so treat him well." The Prophet ﷺ appointed him to command when he was eighteen years old. Reported by Abu Mansour ibn Makarim ibn Ahmad ibn Saad al-Mu'addeb al-Mawsili, on the authority of Ibn Abbas on the authority of Dhurayh on the authority of The prohibition on the authority of Aisha, who said: "Osama tripped on the doorstep (1) and his face was cut, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said to me: Remove him (2) from him. It was as if I had made him dirty. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ started sucking him and then combing him, and said: If Osama were a slave girl, I would have clothed him and beautified him until he cleaned him.
Reported by (3) Abu al-Fadl Abdullah bin Ahmad, on the authority of Usama ibn Zaid, who said: Did you prefer Osama over me, having witnessed what he had not witnessed? He said: Osama was more beloved to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ than you. His father [was (4)] more beloved to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ than your father. He did not pledge allegiance to Ali, nor did he witness any of his wars with him. He said to him: If you put your hand into the mouth of a dragon, I would put my hand in with it. But you have heard what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said to me when I killed that man who bore witness that there is no god but Allah. Reported by This is what Abu Jaafar Ubayd Allah bin Ahmad bin Ali bin Al-Samin Al-Baghdadi, on the authority of his grandfather, who said: I met him, meaning, an infidel who had been killed among the Muslims during their raids.
He said: "I and a man from the Ansar caught up with him, and when we drew weapons on him, he said: 'I bear witness that there is no god but Allah.' We did not abandon him until we killed him. When we came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, we told him his news. He said: O Osama, who has no god but Allah?" Allah? So I said: O Messenger of Allah, he only said it as a refuge from killing. He said: Who is yours, O Osama, there is no god but Allah? The One who sent him with the truth kept repeating it to me until I wished that my previous Islam had not happened, and that I had converted to Islam on that day.
So I said: "I give Allah a pledge that I will not kill a man who says there is no god but Allah." Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated on the authority of Salih ibn Kaysan, on the authority of Ubayd Allah ibn Abdullah, who said: "I saw Usama ibn Zaid praying at the grave of the Prophet ﷺ so Marwan was called to a funeral to pray over it, so he prayed over it and then returned, and Usama was praying at
