Biography of Asma' bint Raban

B: Asmāʾ ibn Ribān ibn Muʿāwiyah ibn Mālik ibn Sulayh, who is al-Ḥārith ibn Rifāʿah ibn ʿUdrah ibn ʿAdī ibn Shamīs ibn Ṭarūd ibn Qudāmah ibn Jarm ibn Ribān al-Jarmī.

He is the one who disputed with Banū ʿAqīl before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding the ʿAqīq in the land of Banū ʿĀmir ibn Ṣaʿṣaʿah, not the one in Medina, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled in favor of Jarm, and he is the one who said:

And I am a brother of Jarm, as you know … When we gather at the Prophet's gatherings

If you are not satisfied with his judgment … I am satisfied with what the Prophet said

Reported by Abū ʿUmar. Jarm: with a 'j' and 'r', and Ribān: with a 'r' and a 'b' followed by a 'n'.
