Hawayzah ibn Masud

Huwaysa b. Mas'ud b. Ka'b b. 'Amir b. 'Adi b. Majdah b. Haritha b. al-Harith b. al-Khazraj b. 'Amr b. Malik b. al-Aws al-Ansari al-Awsi then al-Harithi Abu Sa'd, and he is the brother of Muhiysa by his father and mother.

He witnessed the Battle of Badr, the Battle of the Trench, and all the other battles with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ after them. He was narrated from by Muhammad b. Sahl b. Abu Hathmah, and Harim b. Sa'd b. Muhiysa.

Yunus b. Bukayr narrated from Ibn Ishaq, said: My slave, who was Zayd b. Thabit's slave, Muhammad b. Abu Muhammad, said: My mother, the daughter of Muhiysa, narrated to me from her father Muhiysa that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said after the killing of Ka'b b. al-Ashraf: 'And whoever of you captures any of the Jews, kill him.'

So Muhiysa b. Mas'ud jumped upon Ibn Sunayna, a man from the Jewish merchants, who used to wear their clothes and trade with them, and killed him. And at that time, Huwaysa b. Mas'ud had not yet surrendered, and he was older than Muhiysa. When he was killed, Huwaysa began to strike him, and say: O enemy of Allah, why did you kill him? By Allah, there is a share of his wealth in your belly.

So Muhiysa said: I said to him: By Allah, I was ordered to kill him. If I had been ordered to kill you, I would have killed you. If Huwaysa was the first to Islam, he said: By Allah, if Muhammad had ordered you to kill me, you would have killed me? Muhiysa said: Yes, by Allah, Huwaysa said: By Allah, this religion has reached you in a strange way, Muhiysa said:

Blame the son of my mother if I had been ordered to kill him … I would have cut off his two thumbs with a white knife

His sharp sword, the salt of his meat is pure … whenever he finishes it, he is not a liar
