Definition of To refute

Al-Fanad originally refers to the branch of a mountain.

Then it was used for weakness of opinion due to old age.

The Almighty says: 'Their father said: Did I not tell you that I know from Allah what you do not know?' (Yusuf 96), refuting their accusation of senility.
