Definition of To speak softly

Allah says: 'They speak in whispers (yatakhâfatûn) among themselves' (Tâ-Hâ: 103).

And: 'Do not speak too loudly nor too softly (lâ tukhâfit)' (Al-Isrâ': 110).

Al-khaft: lowering the voice.

Moderation is recommended in prayer.

Say, "Call upon Allah or call upon the Most Merciful. Whichever [name] you call - to Him belong the best names." And do not recite [too] loudly in your prayer or [too] quietly but seek between that an [intermediate] way.
