Definition Al-aḍḥā

Al-aḍḥā according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

Among horses: the ishhab (grayish white). Plural of adha'. Al-adha: the sacrificial animal; plural adhi; whence 'the feast of sacrifice' (id al-adha). Al-udhiyya: a sheep or the like slaughtered at the Feast of Sacrifice; plural adahi. In religious law: the slaughtering of a particular animal, with the intention of drawing near to God, at a particular time (al-Tamartashi). Al-daha: the day's heightening and its spread. The sun's light. The time of that heightening or spread. One says: 'his speech has no daha': it has no clarity. Al-dahiyya: the daha; the sacrificial animal; plural dhahaya.
