Definition Al-ʿaṣr

Al-ʿaṣr according to Al-Kulliyat (Al-Kafawi)

Time (ad-dahr); it has two other forms, 'usr and 'usur, like 'usr and 'usur (difficulty).

Al-ʿaṣr according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

With a fatha on the 'ayn, a damma on the sad and a sukun: time (ad-dahr), or any time; Allah the Exalted said: (By time! Indeed man is in loss).

Al-ʿaṣr according to At-Ta'rifat al-Fiqhiyya (Al-Barkati)

The afternoon until the reddening of the sun; it is also the name of the prayer from mithl or mithlayn until sunset.
