Definition Al-atfaqya al-ʿama

Al-atfaqya al-ʿama according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

That in which the truth of the consequent is judged whether the antecedent is true or not; and the particular in which the truth of the consequent is judged on the supposition of the antecedent's truth, not because of a causal connection with it, but simply because both are true, such as: if man is a rational speaker, the donkey is nahiq (distended with water). (At-ta'rifat, p. 7).
