Uniformity (al-itirad) is one of the conditions of definition among logicians. Many defined it as: whenever the definition is found, the defined is found, and this necessitates that it prevents anything other than the defined from entering into it.
The second condition is inversion: which is that whenever the definition is absent, the defined is absent, or whenever the defined is found, the definition is found, and this is the meaning of it being exclusive. Uniformity among legal theorists (al-usuliyyun) is: whenever the attribute is found, the ruling is found, such as the presence of the prohibition of wine along with its intoxication, or its color, or its taste, or its odor, and it is one of the conditions of legal reasoning (ta'lil) among legal theorists.
