Al-bhtan according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

A lie that stuns (yubhit) its hearer, astounds and bewilders him by its enormity; some mentioned it (among them al-Raghib al-Isfahani, al-Mufradat, p. 63). Abu al-Baqa' said: it is named thus because it stuns (yubhit), that is (text truncated in the source).
