📖 1 min readA group comprising a great mass. The "ahzab" refers to those who gathered together to fight the Chosen One (al-Mustafa), peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, during the campaign of the Trench (ghazwat al-Khandaq). The "hizb of Allah" (the party of Allah) refers to his supporters.
﴿وَمَن يَتَوَلَّ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ فَإِنَّ حِزْبَ ٱللَّهِ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ﴾
« And whoever is an ally of Allah and His Messenger and those who have believed - indeed, the party of Allah - they will be the predominant. »
Surah المائدة : 56
﴿ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَـٰهُمْ لِنَعْلَمَ أَىُّ ٱلْحِزْبَيْنِ أَحْصَىٰ لِمَا لَبِثُوٓا۟ أَمَدًۭا﴾
« Then We awakened them that We might show which of the two factions was most precise in calculating what [extent] they had remained in time. »
Surah الكهف : 12
﴿فَتَقَطَّعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ زُبُرًۭا ۖ كُلُّ حِزْبٍۭ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ﴾
« But the people divided their religion among them into sects - each faction, in what it has, rejoicing. »
Surah المؤمنون : 53
﴿مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ فَرَّقُوا۟ دِينَهُمْ وَكَانُوا۟ شِيَعًۭا ۖ كُلُّ حِزْبٍۭ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ﴾
« [Or] of those who have divided their religion and become sects, every faction rejoicing in what it has. »
Surah الروم : 32
﴿إِنَّ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّۭ فَٱتَّخِذُوهُ عَدُوًّا ۚ إِنَّمَا يَدْعُوا۟ حِزْبَهُۥ لِيَكُونُوا۟ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ﴾
« Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be among the companions of the Blaze. »
Surah فاطر : 6
﴿ٱسْتَحْوَذَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ فَأَنسَىٰهُمْ ذِكْرَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ حِزْبُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ۚ أَلَآ إِنَّ حِزْبَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ هُمُ ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ﴾
« Satan has overcome them and made them forget the remembrance of Allah. Those are the party of Satan. Unquestionably, the party of Satan - they will be the losers. »
Surah المجادلة : 19
