Definition Al-iḥram

Al-iḥram according to Maqalid al-'Ulum (As-Suyuti)

The intention to perform Hajj, Umrah, or both, at a specified location.

Al-iḥram according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

Linguistically: a person entering into a state whereby things that were lawful to them become prohibited. Technically (in customary law): the intention to enter into the ritual state of consecration.
