Definition Al-ishraq

Al-ishraq according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

Masdar of ashraqa, 'to shine'. The sunrise is called ishraq because it brightens the horizon (Talbat al-Talaba, p. 114).

Al-ishraq according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

Illumination; 'he entered at ishraq': he entered at the time of sunrise.

Al-ishraq in the Quran

﴿إِنَّا سَخَّرْنَا ٱلْجِبَالَ مَعَهُۥ يُسَبِّحْنَ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ وَٱلْإِشْرَاقِ﴾

« Indeed, We subjected the mountains [to praise] with him, exalting [Allah] in the [late] afternoon and [after] sunrise. »
