Definition Al-iythar

Al-iythar according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

To prefer others over oneself in bringing benefit and warding off harm, which is the ultimate degree of brotherhood.

Al-iythar according to Maqalid al-'Ulum (As-Suyuti)

To give while withholding from one's own need.

Al-iythar according to At-Ta'rifat al-Fiqhiyya (Al-Barkati)

To prefer others over oneself in securing benefit and repelling harm, and it is the zenith of brotherhood.
