📖 2 min readThat which is required by lam for the negation of the past, and this consists of reporting the abandonment of the action in the past, so that negation is more general than it. And it was said: jahd (denial) is the expression of the present verb put in the jussive by lam, which was established to signify the negation of the past in meaning and the opposite of the past.
In the language, it is a person's denial of something. And in the terminology of morphological scholars, it is reporting the negation of the action in the past tense using the term of the future; thus it is more specific than negation which is reporting that the action is negated, whether it is in the past time or the future, expressing it with the term of the future or the past.
The denial of that which had previous existence, and it is the opposite of negation for that is the denial of the very existence of the claimed thing. And Al-Raghib said (Al-Mufradat p. 88): jahd (denial) is the negation of what is firmly established in the heart or the establishment of what is denied in the heart, and you deny it specifically through such an act.
