Definition Al-jrḥ al-mjrd

Al-jrḥ al-mjrd according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

It is that by which a witness is declared corrupt, without necessitating a legal right for Allah, such as if he testifies that the two witnesses drank wine and the elapsed time is not remote, or for the servant, such as if he testifies that they committed intentional murder, or the corrupt witness, or the usurer, or that the plaintiff hired him.

Al-jrḥ al-mjrd according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

That by which a witness is declared corrupt without necessitating a legal right for Allah, such as if he testifies that the two witnesses drank wine and it is not known whether the elapsed time is remote, or that they commit a major sin absolutely. Such a thing is called "jarh mujarrad" (pure disqualification) due to its being devoid of designation, and therefore it does not necessitate a legal right for Allah such as the legal punishment and assessment.
