Definition Al-muhmlaa

Al-muhmlaa according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

It is the categorical proposition whose subject is a universal concept and whose judgment applies to its individuals in a general manner, meaning without specifying the quantity of its individuals, neither in whole nor in part, such that the quantifier is entirely omitted in it, like in: "The human being is a writer." Know that the human being in this example, although in the form of a definite noun, is indefinite in meaning, like "handsome of face" and "the vile one" in the poet's verse:

Al-muhmlaa according to Maqalid al-'Ulum (As-Suyuti)

That in which the quantity of individuals is not specified, and which is capable of applying to both universality and particularity.
