Definition Al-mshhwrat

Al-mshhwrat according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

These are propositions acknowledged by all people, and the reason for their prominence among them is either that they encompass a general interest such as our saying: justice is good and injustice is ugly, or what is in their natures of gentleness and compassion such as our saying: caring for the weak is commendable, or what is in them of zealous pride such as our saying: exposing nakedness is blameworthy, or their emotional reactions stemming from their customs such as the disbelievers' saying: slaughtering cows is blameworthy, and our saying: slaughtering cows is commendable, or stemming from laws and manners such as religious matters and others.

Al-mshhwrat according to Maqalid al-'Ulum (As-Suyuti)

That by which judgment is passed due to the acknowledgment of all people thereof for a general interest, or gentleness, or zealous pride, or emotional reactions from acts of worship, laws, and manners.
