Al-nfs al-nbaty according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

It is the primary perfection of a natural organic body in terms of its reproduction, growth, and nourishment. By "perfection" is meant that through which the species is completed in its essence, which is called primary perfection, like the form of the sword for iron; or in its attributes, which is called secondary perfection, like anything that follows the species from accidental properties, such as cutting for the sword, movement for the body, and knowledge for the human being.
