The author of Al-Matali said: It is what lies between Jarash and the black lands of Kufa, and its boundary from the western side is the Hijaz, to the left of the Kaaba, and all of Najd is part of the jurisdiction of Al-Yamama. Al-Jawhari said: Najd is one of the lands of the Arabs, and it is the opposite of Al-Ghawr, which is all of Tihama. Whatever rises from Tihama towards the land of Iraq is Najd, and it is masculine. ﴿وَلَقَدْ عَهِدْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ ءَادَمَ مِن قَبْلُ فَنَسِىَ وَلَمْ نَجِدْ لَهُۥ عَزْمًۭا﴾
« And We had already taken a promise from Adam before, but he forgot; and We found not in him determination. »
