Al-nqyḍ according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

Everything, the lifting of that proposition. Thus, when we say: every man is an animal, necessarily, its contrary is: it is not so.

Al-nqyḍ according to At-Ta'rifat al-Fiqhiyya (Al-Barkati)

The contrary of everything is its lifting; and the two contraries are the two propositions excluding each other by themselves, such that they cannot join in any way, as affirmation and negation.
