Definition Al-qaʾf

Al-qaʾf according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

One who knows lineage by his insight (firasatan) and his observation of the newborn's limbs.

Al-qaʾf according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

One who knows lineage by his insight and his observation of the newborn's limbs.

Al-qaʾf according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

One who ascribes lineage in case of confusion, by the particular knowledge Allah has granted him. Al-Sharif al-Jurjani said: he is one who knows lineage by his insight and his observation of the newborn's limbs.
