Definition Al-qwamʿ

Al-qwamʿ according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

Everything that subdues the human being against the demands of nature, the lower soul, and desire, and deters him from them; these are the emanations of the divine Names and the divine supports for the people of divine solicitude in their journey towards Allah the Exalted.

Al-qwamʿ according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

Everything that subdues the human being from the demands of nature, the soul, and desire and deters him from them, and these are the bestowals of the divine Names and the divine supports for the people of solicitude in the journey to Allah the Exalted.

Al-qwamʿ according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

Everything that subdues the human being from the demands of the soul, nature, and desire and deters him from them, and these are the emanations of the divine Names and the divine supports for the people of the journey to Allah (Al-Qashani, Istilahat al-Sufiyyah, p. 145).
