Definition Al-qyas al-astthnaʾy

Al-qyas al-astthnaʾy according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

That in which the conclusion itself or its contradiction is actually mentioned, as when we say: if this is a body, it occupies space, but it is a body, it follows that it occupies space, and that very thing is mentioned in the syllogism; or: but it does not occupy space, it follows that it is not a body, and its contradiction which is our saying: it is a body, is mentioned in the syllogism.

Al-qyas al-astthnaʾy according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

That in which the conclusion itself or its contradiction is actually mentioned, such as: if this being is a man, it is an animal, but it is a man, it follows that it is an animal, or: but it is not an animal, it follows that it is not a man. If it is said: whenever this being is a man, it laughs actually, but it does not laugh actually, which is not true, therefore it is not a man, we say: indeed, the contradiction of the general absolute proposition is permanent.
