Definition Al-sʿaya

Al-sʿaya according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

In origin it derives from as-sa'y (striving), which is engagement in every deed, good or evil; in the Revelation: (so that every soul may be recompensed for what it strove for).

Al-sʿaya according to At-Ta'rifat al-Fiqhiyya (Al-Barkati)

In the Law: the work the slave is charged with in order to complete the manumission of himself.
