Al-sfr al-awl according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

It is the lifting of the veils of multiplicity from the face of oneness, and it is the journeying towards Allah from the abodes of the soul by removing passionate attachment to outward manifestations and others, until the servant reaches the manifest horizon, which is the limit of the station of the heart.
