Definition Al-tghlyb

Al-tghlyb according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

It is giving preference to one of two known matters over the other and applying its term to both of them, and they restricted its application to both to avoid mutual assimilation.

Al-tghlyb according to Mufradat (Ar-Raghib)

Linguistically, it is bringing forth the dominant wording, and by convention, it is when a thing is dominated by that which belongs to another due to a suitability or mixing between them, such as the two parents for the father and the mother, the two eastern horizons and the two western horizons for the east and the west, the two moons for the sun and the moon, the two Omars for Abu Bakr and Umar, and the two Marwas for Al-Safa and Al-Marwa. Due to this mixing, the word (who) was applied to non-rational beings in expressions like: ﴿فمنهم من يمشي على بطنه﴾ and the designation of those being addressed was applied to the absent in expressions like: ﴿اعبدوا ربكم الذي خلقكم والذين من قبلكم لعلكم تتقون﴾ because (lalla) is connected to (created you).

Al-tghlyb according to Maqalid al-'Ulum (As-Suyuti)

Giving preference to one of two known matters over the other, and applying its wording to both of them.
