Definition Al-tḥry

Al-tḥry according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

Seeking the more favorable and the prior of the two cases.

Al-tḥry according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

Expenditure of effort to attain the intended end. In another formulation: seeking the more favorable and the prior of the two cases.

Al-tḥry according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

In language: intent, seeking and pursuit, as in the poet's saying: 'I seek your pleasure', that is, I ask for your satisfaction; and in the word of the Most High: 'Let them then seek right guidance'.
