Definition Al-tkwyn

Al-tkwyn according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

Bringing a thing into existence preceded by matter.

Al-tkwyn according to Mufradat (Ar-Raghib)

An attribute by which every possible is brought into existence and made to vanish, in accordance with will.

Al-tkwyn according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

Mentioned among events; its being opposed to ibda' (creation ex nihilo), both oppositions being existential, consists in that ibda' denotes absence of precedence by matter, and takwin precedence by matter; and if one of the two oppositions is existential and the other negative, it is the opposition of affirmation and negation. Al-'Alawi, joy of the scholars, the community, and the religion (may Allah sanctify his secret, and his resting place be illumined), said: the difference between takwin and taskhir (subjection) is that takwin is the swiftness of existence from nonexistence, without transition from one state to another, whereas taskhir is the transition from one state to another.

Al-tkwyn according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

Bringing a thing into existence preceded by matter.

Al-tkwyn according to At-Ta'rifat al-Fiqhiyya (Al-Barkati)

Among the theologians: bringing the nonexistent from nonexistence into existence.
