📖 3 min readIt is the joining of the acts of hajj and 'umra in the months of hajj, in one year, with two states of consecration, beginning with the 'umra's acts without touching his wife with a valid touch; he who performs 'umra without driving the sacrificial animal and returns to his land, his release is valid and his tamattu' is void; the saying 'without touching' mentions the necessary and means the consequent, which is the tamattu''s nullity; as for him who drives the sacrificial animal, his release is not valid, for he may not release himself; his return is thus obligatory; his release is not valid; when he returns and consecrates himself for hajj, he is in the state of tamattu'.
Benefit. In fiqh: it is the joining between the acts of hajj and 'umra in the months of hajj, in one year, with two states of consecration, beginning with the 'umra's acts without touching his wife with a valid touch. Its method: consecrating by an 'umra from the ritual point, circumambulating the House for the 'umra, running between Safa and Marwa, shaving or cutting the hair; he is then out of the 'umra's consecration if he did not drive the sacrificial animal with him; and he interrupts the talbiya at the start of the first circuit, that is, when he touches the Black Stone in the first round; then he consecrates for hajj on the day of Tarwiya from the Sanctuary, pilgrimages and sacrifices; if incapable of sacrificing, he fasts three days of which the day of 'Arafa, and seven when he has finished the hajj's acts; and if he drives the sacrificial animal it is not permitted him to release himself; after finishing the 'umra's acts he consecrates for hajj and drives the sacrificial animal; when he shaves on the day of sacrifice he is released from his two consecrations, and release is the return to his land.
By such a thing, with tamattu': to draw lasting subsistence from it; he is thus munta'i'.
Performing the 'umra, then the hajj.
Benefiting from a thing; of this is the tamattu' in hajj.
