Definition Al-wsq

Al-wsq according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

Sixty sa'; the sa' is four imdad, and the imdad is a ratl and a third of a ratl.

Al-wsq according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

With fatha or kasra of the waw: a masdar meaning gathering, for the wasq gathers the two sa's; in language: joining one thing to another. God Most High said: 'wa-l-layli wa-ma wasaq' (by the night and what it gathers).

Al-wsq according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

'Wasaqa al-shay' wasqan': to gather it. In the noble Quran: 'wa-l-layli wa-ma wasaq' (by the night and what it gathers) (Al-Inshiqaq, 17): when the night covers the mountains, the trees, the seas, and the earth and they gather into it, it has gathered them (wasaqatha).
